The Minneapolis Stripper Awards Gala

Honoring Strippers. Funding Our Future. Flexing Sex Worker Power.

The Stripper Awards, hosted by SWOP Minneapolis, is a one-of-a-kind annual event that celebrates the talent, labor, and leadership of strippers across Minneapolis.
Created by and for sex workers, this gala is more than a night of recognition, it’s a bold declaration that our work matters, our voices deserve to be heard, and our communities deserve to thrive.

About the Stripper Awards Gala
1
What is the Stripper Awards?
The Stripper Awards Gala is a dancer-led, community powered celebration that honors the brilliance, hustle, and impact of strippers in Minneapolis.

The event brings together dancers, allies, and supporters for an unapologetically glamorous night of joy, visibility, and recognition.
Nominees are voted on by their peers across categories like Best Strip Club, MVP, Pole Princess, Fan Favorite and more because no one knows our work like we do.

But this isn’t just a night to party, it’s a movement in motion. The gala raises essential funds for SWOP Minneapolis and the development of the Minneapolis Stripper Guild, a dancer-led effort to organize for safety, dignity, and labor rights in the strip club industry.

The Stripper Awards is how we celebrate each other, invest in each other, and show the world that strippers deserve more than survival, we deserve celebration, power, and a future we define ourselves.
2
Why do we do it?
Because strippers deserve more than survival.

The Stripper Awards exists to recognize the brilliance, labor, and leadership of dancers who are too often ignored, exploited, or pushed to the margins.
We built this event because no one else was going to celebrate us the way we deserve, so we did it ourselves.

We do it to shift power. To rewrite the narrative. To make space where sex workers are centered, not silenced.

This night is about visibility, yes, but it’s also about resources. The gala raises critical funds for the work we do year round at SWOP Minneapolis: from harm reduction to the creation of the Minneapolis Stripper Guild, a dancer-led initiative organizing for real rights, real safety, and real change in our workplaces.

We do it because strippers are workers. We are leaders. And we shouldn’t have to fight to be seen.
3
Where Does the Money Raised Go?
The Stripper Awards Gala is more than a celebration, it’s a fundraiser for a future we’re building together.
All proceeds from the event go directly toward the development of the Minneapolis Stripper Guild, a dancer-led initiative organizing for real power, protection, and respect in the strip club industry.

Strippers have been systematically left out of labor movement conversations, even though we’ve been organizing in our own ways for decades. The Minneapolis Stripper Guild is our way of changing that, by creating a structure where dancers lead, where our needs are centered, and where our labor is finally treated like it matters.

The Guild is being built by current and former strippers across Minneapolis, especially those most impacted by exploitation, discrimination, and instability in the industry. We’re collaborating with union partners, listening to dancers from different clubs and experiences, and creating a model that puts power back into the hands of the workers.

We’re not asking to become employees, we want to keep our independent contractor status, but still have access to the basic things every worker deserves: affordable healthcare, transparency, consistency, and the right to advocate for ourselves without being punished for it.

The Guild will work toward:
-
Safer working conditions in clubs
-
Clear and consistent house fees
-
Protection from retaliation and discrimination
-
Access to healthcare and mental health support
-
A way for dancers to collectively speak up and hold clubs accountable
-
Building unity between dancers across clubs, backgrounds, and experiences
-
And so much more!
The money raised through the Stripper Awards helps fund this work, covering everything from organizing stipends and outreach, to materials, space, and the time it takes to build something from the ground up. Because real labor movements aren’t built overnight, and they’re not built without resources.

We’re not waiting for someone else to include us. We’re organizing ourselves and building a future where dancers have real power, real protections, and real community.
2025 Award Categories & Winners

The Stripper Awards are built different, because they’re decided by the people who actually know the work. Every nominee is a current Minneapolis-based dancer, and every category was created to reflect the real brilliance, labor, and impact we see in the clubs every day.

Dancers voted across 12 unique categories, honoring each other for everything from stage performance, style, and hustle. Two additional awards (Best Strip Club and Fan Favorite Dancer) were open to public voting, allowing supporters and regulars to show love in a big way!

These awards weren’t chosen by managers or curated by outsiders. They were built by dancers, for dancers and every single vote came from within the community.

Performances with Purpose
The 2025 Stripper Awards Gala wasn’t just a night to remember, it was a turning point. With over 400 guests in attendance, the room was packed with love, pride, and power as we came together to celebrate the dancers who make this city move.

Hosted by local strippers, the night featured a full lineup of amazing live performances that reminded everyone exactly why this work is art, culture, and labor all at once. From high energy stage shows to deeply emotional tributes, each performance lit up the room and told a story that only a stripper could tell.

What made it even more powerful? Every dancer on that stage donated their performance to raise funds for something bigger than themselves, the future of the Minneapolis Stripper Guild.
They didn’t just show up to entertain. They showed up to organize, to invest in our collective power, and to help build the foundation for long-term change in our industry.
That kind of generosity and intention can’t be overstated.

Community That Shows Up
The 2025 Stripper Awards Gala wasn’t just built by dancers, it was backed by a whole community that believes in sex workers and the future we’re fighting for.

Alongside the incredible performers who donated their time and talent, local businesses from across the Twin Cities stepped up in a major way. These were not performative gestures or hollow sponsorships, these were real, tangible contributions from people who believe in sex worker rights and the creation of the Minneapolis Stripper Guild.

Thanks to their generosity, we were able to give away over $15,000 in raffle and silent auction prizes, ranging from self-care packages and gift cards to luxury experiences and handmade goods. These giveaways weren’t just perks, they were a reflection of community investment. People gave because they believe strippers deserve protection, respect, and the resources to organize for lasting change.

We’re proud to stand beside businesses that align with our values and put their money where their mouth is. When local economies support sex workers, everyone wins.

Joy Is a Pillar of Our Work

At SWOP, we believe joy is not just an outcome, it’s a strategy.
A tool. A right.

In a world that often criminalizes and dehumanizes sex workers, joy becomes revolutionary. It becomes resistance. That’s why we center it in everything we do, from harm reduction outreach and peer support to political organizing and public celebration.

The Stripper Awards Gala was more than just a fundraiser or a ceremony. It was a night of unapologetic joy, a reminder that strippers deserve to laugh, to dance, to shine, and to be surrounded by love and community.

These moments matter. They refuel us. They connect us. And they remind everyone watching that we’re still here, still thriving, and still building something powerful together.
